In our reading from the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, we look at the first half of Chapter V on the Liturgical Year. This section lays out the theological foundation for the practical decrees which will follow in tomorrow’s reading.
The liturgical year allows us to make present those parts of Jesus’ life in our own day (article 102), as well ass to honor Mary (article 103) and the saints (article 104). It also gives the opportunity for “the formation of the faithful by means of pious practices for soul and body, by instruction, prayer, and works of penance and of mercy” (article 104).
