Day #95: Sacrosanctum Concilium 112-116

“The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art.”

These strong words begin Chapter VI in the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy on Sacred Music.

“The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy.”

This section calls for the promotion of the Church’s musical tradition and training for those who would in turn teach our seminarians.

Today, the Scripture references are in the footnote:

[42] Cf. Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16.
