Day #106: Gaudium Et Spes 13-14

Today we continue with our look at the dignity of the human person in the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World.

In Article 13, we see how sin entered the world at the very beginning and the inclination to sin that we inherit is readily discernible just by looking around.  But of course, Christ comes to free us from this slavery to sin.

The call to grandeur and the depths of misery, both of which are a part of human experience, find their ultimate and simultaneous explanation in the light of this revelation.

Article 14 speaks of us as a union of body and soul.  Thus, our body is good, even though “man experiences rebellious stirrings in his body.”

Here are the Scripture citations:

John 12:31
