Today we finish up Chapter 2 of Part I of the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World.
Here the Council drives home the point that we are not individuals in isolation. God did not come to save a group of scattered individuals but to save “His People.”
And as Chapter 1 concluded with reference to Jesus, so to does Chapter 2.:
“This communitarian character is developed and consummated in the work of Jesus Christ.”
And Jesus, of course, founded a community: the Church.
