Day #229: Presbyterorum Ordinis 2

Today we start Chapter I in the  Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests.  Chapter I serves as a sort of introductory chapter to look at the scriptural and theological background for the role of the priesthood in the ministry of the Church.

In article 2, we see the Council again affirm the priesthood of all the faithful, but then we also distinguish that with the ministerial priesthood which this document is looking at.  In particular, article 2 looks at the connection of priests to the bishop, and their role in preaching and sanctifying — which ultimately boils down the giving glory to God through everything that they do.
