Today in the Decree Concerning the Pastoral Office of Bishops in the Church, we continue reading the third section of Chapter II on “Assistants in the Pastoral Office of the Diocesan Bishops.”
Today’s reading begins the third part of this third section. Up now is the “diocesan clergy”. The Council Fathers spend a bit more time on this part than they did on the previous two parts regarding auxiliary and coadjutor bishops and the diocesan curia.
Article 28 introduces this part by speaking of the diocesan priests and the bishop as one family who exercises the one priesthood of Christ. Harmony and collaboration are key.
Article 29 draws specal attention to those priests engaged in “supra-diocesan works” of special importance.
