Day #322: Christus Dominus 33-34

Today in the Decree Concerning the Pastoral Office of Bishops in the Church, we continue reading the third section of Chapter II on “Assistants in the Pastoral Office of the Diocesan Bishops.”

After looking at diocesan clergy, the Council Fathers now turn their attention to religious in this final part of this section.  Article 33 offers some introductory remarks about how all who profess the evangelical counsels are called to offer “prayer, works of penance and the example of their own life”.  Article 34 speaks of religious priests in particular and how they — along with all religious — are also part of the diocesan family.
