In today’s reading from the Decree on Ecumenism, we begin Chapter II on “The Practice of Ecumenism.” This chapter fleshes out those principles which were articulated in the first chapter.
Article 5 introduces the chapter by affirming that Christian unity is something that concerns everyone. In article 6, the Council Fathers speak of the perennial need the Church has of renewal and reform. Taking seriously this need for renewal will naturally aid ecumenical efforts.
