Today in the Decree on Ecumenism, we conclude Chapter II on the practice of ecumenism.
Article 11 speaks of ecumenical dialogue and the need to articulate Catholic teaching in a way that it does not become an “obstacle”, but while — of course — not watering down the truth of the teaching. The entire Council seems aimed at doing just this: articulating the unchanging doctrines of the faith in ways that are more easily understood and less alienating.
Article 12 finishes things off by emphasizing what we share in common: belief in the Trinity and a desire to serve.
