Today we continue our reading in the Decree on the Catholic Churches of the Eastern Rite as we finish the section on “The Individual Churches or Rites.”
Article 3 speaks of how all the Churches (whether Eastern rite or Western rite) are “of equal dignity” and are subject to the Pope.
Article 4 speaks of a few things. The Council Fathers speak of the need for the different to work together ever while maintaining certain jurisdictional differences. The also mention how both priests and laity need to be instructed on the different rites. Lastly, they make the point that, generally speaking, Catholics ought to remain with the rite where they originated.
