Today we  finish our reading of the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity.

Article 32 wraps up Chapter VI by speaking of the various aids to the formation of the laity.

Article 33 concludes the document with an exhortation to the laity to hear and respond to the call of the Lord.

Day #273: Apostolicam Actuositatem 31

Today in the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, we continue to look at forming the laity for their work in the apostolate.

Article 31 speaks of how different apostolates require different types of formation for the laity who engage in them.

Day #272: Apostolicam Actuositatem 30

In today’s passage from the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, we continue to look at forming the laity for the task at hand.

In article 30, we see the Council Fathers emphasizing that this formation begins at the earliest moments, both in the family and school contexts.  Further, this formation is also undertaken by the lay apostolates themselves.

Day #271: Apostolicam Actuositatem 28-29

Today in the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, we begin Chapter VI on “Formation for the Apostolate.”

Article 28 introduces the chapter with an affirmation of the necessity of laity being properly formed for this work.  Article 29 speaks of the importance for the laity to be formed in the nature of the culture to which they belong, but without neglecting the need for spiritual and doctrinal formation.

Day #270: Apostolicam Actuositatem 26-27

Today in the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, we finish Chapter V on the laity’s relationship with others.

Article 26 speaks on the common work between laity and clergy at the level of diocesan and inter-diocesan councils.  Article 27 wraps things up with an encouragement of the laity to work together with other Christians as well, when possible to do so.

In today’s reading from the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, we continue to look at the “External Relationships” of the laity in their work within the Church.

Article 25 focuses on the relationship of the clergy with the laity, particularly looking at what the clergy can do to promote and foster the work of the laity.

Day #268: Apostolicam Actuositatem 23-24

Today in the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, we begin Chapter V on “External Relationships.”

Article 23 begins the chapter with reference to the preceding one by saying that, whether the laity’s work is individual or group-based, none of it occurs in a vaccuum.  All the work ought to be directed by the Church.

Article 24 starts to flesh out the relationship between the laity and the hierarchy in this work.
